1. _I_n_t_r_o_d_u_c_t_i_o_n
SiteMgr allows administration of a web site through a full
graphical user interface. Publishing, validation, revision
control, visualization and log file analysis are all part of
the SiteMgr product.
_I_M_P_O_R_T_A_N_T: Before installing and configuring SiteMgr on the
webserver, which is best done by a webmaster,
please read these release notes. Chapters 2 and 5
in particular will help you determine whether you
should install the SiteMgr server extensions.
Please allocate sufficient time to install and
configure SiteMgr server extensions, which may
take an hour or more depending on your level of
familiarity with server configuration.
We _s_t_r_o_n_g_l_y _r_e_c_o_m_m_e_n_d that you provide a secure
server environment for SiteMgr. We advise you to
carefully read over Chapters 2 and 5. It is
important to note that after the database is
initialized, anyone with Web access to the
SiteMgr http server can write to your site. It is
_s_t_r_o_n_g_l_y _r_e_c_o_m_m_e_n_d_e_d that you configure that
server's authorization features so that password
protection and/or domain restrictions apply.
If you are _u_p_g_r_a_d_i_n_g from an earlier version of SiteMgr,
please read the section on "Compatibility" in Chapter 2 of
these release notes ("Installation Information").

Agreement. Please take a few moments to review the

1.2 _O_n_l_i_n_e__R_e_l_e_a_s_e__N_o_t_e_s
After you install the online release notes for a product
(the _r_e_l_n_o_t_e_s subsystem), you can view the release notes on
your screen.
Note: You can read the online release notes for most
products before installing the software. Refer to
the booklet in your CD-ROM case for more information.
If you have a graphics system, select ``Release Notes'' from
the Help submenu of the Toolchest. This displays the
_i_n_f_o_s_e_a_r_c_h(1) or _g_r_e_l_n_o_t_e_s(1) graphical browser for the
online release notes.
Refer to the _i_n_f_o_s_e_a_r_c_h(1) or _g_r_e_l_n_o_t_e_s(1) man page(s) for
information on options to this command.
If you do not have a graphics system, you can use the
_r_e_l_n_o_t_e_s command. Refer to the _r_e_l_n_o_t_e_s(1) man page for
accessing the online release notes.
